Established in 2012, the Portuguese Golden Visa is a residence permit designed for non-European citizens who make qualifying investments in Portugal. This program allows applicants to conduct business activities and enjoy visa-free access to Portuguese territory and the Schengen Area.

Investment options for Golden Visa

​

Applicants must make one of the following investments to qualify:

​

  1. Capital transfer of €1,000,000 or more:

    • Funds must be transferred from the applicant’s account to Portugal.

    • Investment can be made individually or via a limited liability company wholly owned by the applicant.

  2. Real estate investments:

    • Property purchase of €500,000 or more.

    • Renovation and acquisition of property for €350,000 or more, if:

      • The building is over 30 years old.

      • The property is located in a designated urban rehabilitation area.

    • Reduced investment threshold: €280,000 for properties in low population density areas.

  3. Investment in funds or venture capital funds:

    • Minimum investment: €350,000.

    • Funds must meet these requirements:

      • Registered under Portuguese law.

      • At least 60% of investments must be in Portuguese companies with registered offices in Portugal.

      • Minimum maturity of 5 years.
